Prism Works - Comment Timeline for Jira Chrome Extension

Last updated: October 2026

Introduction

Prism Works ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information our Comment Timeline for Jira Chrome extension accesses, and how it is handled.

Key Points:
  • • The extension runs only on Jira Cloud sites (*.atlassian.net)
  • • Comments are read from your own Jira site using your existing sign-in
  • • Nothing is sent to Prism Works or any third party
  • • No analytics, tracking, or advertising
  • • We do not operate any servers for this extension

Information the Extension Accesses

  • Jira issue comments: When you view a Jira issue, the extension requests that issue's comments from your Jira site's REST API so it can display them in a single timeline. You only see comments you already have permission to view.
  • Current issue key: Read from the page address (for example, PROJ-123) to know which issue to load.
  • Your Jira account ID: Requested from your Jira site so that @mentions of you can be highlighted, as Jira does. It is held in memory only and never stored or transmitted elsewhere.

What Is Stored

  • Last-viewed times: A timestamp per issue (site + issue key) recording when you last opened the timeline, so new comments can be highlighted. Stored locally on your device and limited to your 500 most recent issues.
  • Preferences: Your sort order (newest or oldest first) and where you've placed the timeline button, saved with Chrome's storage.
Note: Comment content is held in memory only while the timeline is displayed. It is never written to storage and never transmitted anywhere other than between your browser and your own Jira site.

Permissions Explanation

  • Access to https://*.atlassian.net: Required to detect the issue you are viewing, load its comments through Jira's API, and show the timeline panel. The extension does not run on any other website.
  • storage: Required to save your preferences and last-viewed times locally.

Third-Party Services

The extension communicates only with the Jira Cloud site you are already using, which is operated by Atlassian under your organization's agreement with them. We do not use any other third-party services, analytics, or tracking tools. Comment Timeline for Jira is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Atlassian.

Your Rights and Choices

  • You can disable or remove the extension at any time through Chrome's extension settings
  • Uninstalling the extension deletes all locally stored data
